Dental restorations become necessary when the natural tooth structure becomes compromised. This can happen as a result of tooth decay, injury, or when the replacement of current dental restorations is required. Dentistry by Design offers a variety of restorative options including Composite (tooth-colored) Fillings, Crowns, Bridges, Root Canal Therapy, Dental Implants, and Dentures & Partial Dentures.

Composite Fillings

A dental filling is a restoration used to repair minor to moderate tooth damage. We may recommend a filling if a tooth has been damaged by decay (cavity) or suffers from minor fracturing or chipping. The dental filling is used to restore the tooth to its original structure and function and return your smile to good health.

Porcelain Crown (Caps)

Dental crowns, or caps, are a treatment designed to restore the strength, functionality and appearance of teeth that have been broken or damaged by decay, disease, or injury.

Crowns are custom made to fit your smile and are bonded over your original tooth to cover it and prevent further damage. If you are replacing a missing tooth, your crown may be placed atop a dental implant. Your dental crown is intended to be a long-lasting solution for your oral health and smile.

Root Canal Therapy

A root canal becomes necessary when the root of the tooth has sustained some type of damage. This damage could be caused by injury, decay, or infection. A root canal procedure involves removing the damaged root and filling the vacant space with a special dental material to seal the area.

In certain cases, Dr. Sledge may refer patients who require root canal therapy to an endodontist. An endodontist specializes in root canals and is trained to handle more complex root canal issues.

Bridges

Dental bridges are replacements for missing teeth. When you lose a tooth, your remaining teeth can shift out of position, causing you to develop a bad bite and making it more difficult for you to chew and speak normally. A dental bridge will literally “bridge” the gap in your smile to keep your teeth in the correct position, maintain a healthy bite and give you back a beautiful smile. Dental bridges are typically anchored in place by crowns attached to the teeth on either side of the prosthetic tooth but may also be supported by a dental implant.

Dental Implants

Looking at a smile with dental implants is like looking at a smile with natural teeth. They are the closest thing offered to natural teeth and will preserve your facial structure, restore chewing ability, and allow you to smile with confidence.

If you lost a tooth/teeth due to periodontal disease, accident, injury, medical condition or some other reason, dental implants are a great way to replace those missing teeth. Dental implants are also an effective way to stabilize dentures.

Dentures & Partial Dentures

For the millions of Americans missing some or all of their teeth, complete and partial dentures offer an affordable, non-surgical option for restoring the health and function of their smile. Missing teeth can affect more than just your aesthetics—they can also affect your overall health.

At Dentistry by Design, we believe everyone deserves a reason to smile. We will work with you to achieve comfortable, natural looking dentures that will allow you to eat, speak and smile with confidence.
